Jorjany Botero-Orrego is a Biology graduate from the University of Antioquia and a candidate for a Master's degree in Urban and Environmental Processes at the EAFIT University. With more than 18 years of experience, her interests include ornithology, urban ecology, bio-urbanism and nature education. She has researched birds in a wide variety of ecosystems in Colombia and Peru. For three years, she led the ornithological section of the Blue-billed Curassow Conservation Strategy in the Middle Magdalena Valley, Antioquia. As Executive Director of the SAO, she founded the Medellin Bird Festival and promoted the Medellin Global Bird Capital brand. She is co-founder and director of Biophilia, where she implements nature-based solutions integrating science, art and appropriate technologies to promote regenerative cultures and biodiversity conservation. With a holistic approach, she combines research, university teaching, scientific outreach and leadership to address global challenges such as biodiversity loss and climate change. She is the author of the Guía Sonora de las Aves del Refugio de Vida Silvestre Alto de San Miguel.
